Ray Scannell is a Theatre Maker from Ireland.

 His solo play Deep won 'Best Male Performer' and was nominated for the 'Spirit of the Fringe' at the Dublin Fringe Festival Awards 2013. Previous solo show Mimic (a monologue on a Piano) toured Nationally and Internationally at cities including Galway, Kilkenny, Dublin (‘Best Male Performer’ Dublin Fringe Festival 2008’), PS122, New York (COIL festival), the Irish Arts Center, New York 2011, the Centre Cultural Irlandais, Paris, and Electric Picnic 2011.

 As an actor, Ray has worked with The Gate Theatre, Dublin (The Great GatsbyThe Red Shoes), Rough Magic (Digging For Fire, Famished Castle), has toured internationally with Druid’s The Walworth Farce by Enda Walsh and played ‘Barney Bagnal’ in Druid’s Production of The Silver Tassie, as part of the Lincoln Center Festival 2011, New York.

 As composer Ray was commissioned by thisispopbaby Theatre Co. to write original music for hit musical Alice in Funderland, (presented and Co-Produced at the Abbey Theatre,  Nominated for 'Best Production', Irish Times Theatre Awards 2013), and was composer on the award-winning* Abbey Production of Phillip MacMahon's Town is Dead (*Best Sound Design, Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards 2017). As well as collaborating with Junk Ensemble & Olwen Fouéré on Walking Pale as part of  the Dublin Dance Festival / GPOWitness History 2016 Project).

His latest play The Bluffer's Guide to Suburbia premiered at the Cork Midsummer Festival and was presented at the Dublin Theatre Festival 2019.
